Stood around a sports hall in a Rochdale school is
not the most rock n roll place in the world but here I stood
with Moonska's Pop punk maestros soon to be known to the world
as 'The Chairmen Of The Bored' to perform a much sort after
interview with the boys. The Interview starts after watching
the band perform their first home town gig (and only the 6th
in total) in front of a 100 or so 'mosher' school kids and a
few more past it people.
Who are your
influences?
Ben: When we started writing it was a
mixture between Green Day and Blink 182.
Whitmore,
Sonic Boom Six and Yourselves on tour, you looking forward to
it?
Ben: Definitely yeah, we’ve been looking
forward to it for ages and as well as looking forward to
recording our e.p. this week as it’ll be nice to have
something to sell.
How long have you been playing
live?
Ben: Well not long really, we haven’t done
that many gigs, I think it’s around 6 gigs.
So a
Moonska rep went to one of your 6 gigs?
James: No,
we sent a demo down to them around Christmas and then in
February we went and recorded a proper demo and it’s gone from
there.
So you’re actually a signed Moonska band
now?
James: No we’re not signed as it’s a bit
tricky with Ben and his contract (with
Hollyoakes)
So will this cause a problem with
touring?
Owen: Not really as long as he gives a
month and half notice that’s fine, just so they can write him
out.
So how long are you allowed off
screen?
Ben: I can take as long as I want off but
obviously I’ll only get paid for the work I do. I get paid
holidays but after that…
Do you feel having a
‘gimmick’ as appearing on the telly will have a negative or a
positive effect?
Ben: I think it would have a
positive.
So was it acting or music for
you?
Ben: I didn’t want to go into acting, it just
kind of happened. This is what I want do!
Like
sleeping on Kitchen floors?
Ben: Yeah we're a month
away for touring for a month, I can't wait.
With this
we depart with promises of seeing each other again on their
upcoming tour. |
